DIA 8: “Uma música sobre álcool e drogas”

Jay Bennett foi guitarrista do Wilco e participou dos álbuns “Being There” (1996), “Mermaid Avenue” (1998) e “Summerteeth” (1999), tendo sido demitido da banda durante as gravações do clássico “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot”, quarto álbum do grupo.

Para muitos (eu incluso), “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” seria um disco completamente diferente se ele não estivesse ali, atazando Jeff Tweedy, tentando tirá-lo da zona de conforto.

Bennett morreu aos 45 anos, em 2009, por uma dosagem acidental de medicamento, e sua história é contada no documentário “Where Are You, Jay Bennett?” (2021) :

Em 2010, a ONG The Jay Bennett Foundation lançou o álbum póstumo “Kicking at the Perfumed Air”, com uma série de gravações inéditas do compositor, incluindo “Beer”, que também integra a trilha sonora do documentário.
